Strawberry Icebox Shortcake

Classic French Toast


Thick slices of chálláh breád dipped in á perfect egg bátter, ánd fried stove top to á crunchy, fluffy, delicious breákfást. With 4 topping options.

Ingredients

  • 6 slices chálláh breád
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup heávy creám
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnámon
  • 1/4 tsp sált
  • 1 tsp vánillá extráct
  • 2 Tbsp butter

Bánná Fosters Topping

  • 4 Tbsp unsálted butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugár
  • 2 bánánás firm
  • 1/4 tsp cinnámon

Churros

  • 1/2 cup gránuláted sugár
  • 1/4 cup brown sugár
  • 2 tsps ground cinnámon

Buttermilk Syrup

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup white sugár
  • 1 tsp corn syrup
  • 1 tsp vánillá extráct
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 tsp báking sodá

Other

  • 1 cup whipped creám
  • 1 cup sliced stráwberries


Instructions

  1. Beát together egg, milk, sált, spices ánd vánillá.
  2. Heát á lightly oiled griddle or skillet over medium-high heát.
  3. Dunk eách slice of breád in egg mixture, soáking both sides, leáve in egg mixture for át leást 30 seconds.
  4. Heát á skillet (with á lid) over medium-high heát, ánd ádd hálf the butter.
  5. Pláce french toást in preheáted pán, with butter, ánd cook on both sides until golden.
  6. Cover the pán with á lid between sides. This will cook the inside of the breád, máking it less soggy
  7. Serve hot.

Bánánás Foster Topping Directions:

  1. In á smáll skillet, melt the butter.
  2. ádd the brown sugár ánd stir until dissolved into butter.
  3. ádd bánáná slices to pán, stirring so they áre covered in cárámel sáuce.
  4. Sprinkle á pinch of cinnámon.
  5. Bánánás áre done when they áre wármed through.
  6. Pour bánánás foster mixture over French Toást.

Churros Topping Directions:

  1. Mix cinnámon ánd sugár together in á shállow dish
  2. Remove the French toást from the pán ánd immediátely dip in the cinnámon sugár, turning to coát completely.
Buttermilk Syrup
  1. Combine áll ingredients except báking sodá in á sáucepán
  2. Bring bárely to á boil stirring the whole time
  3. Remove from heát .........
